Completed in 1859 by Isambard K. Brunel, the Royal Albert Bridge is one of the most recognizable in the world. The two huge lenticular spans were constructed at ground level on the river shore, floated into position and raised. Often described as a combination of truss, arch, and suspension bridges, if you imagine removing the top chords and upper truss work, you're left with a bridge that looks very much like a suspension bridge.
