|Nisqually River (Longmire) Suspension Bridge|

All photos by David Denenberg. Please do not reuse without permission. This bridge is located in the Longmire area of Mt. Rainier National Park, just off one of the main park roads. Originally completed in 1924, it was rebuilt in 1950. A sign at the bridge says of the original bridge, "Twenty foot high whole log towers were used to support the bridge's main cables." Soon after this visit (October 2003) floods devastated many trail bridges in this park and other Washington parks. I believe this bridge was unscathed.
A third cable carries a pipeline across the river.
An obligatory photo of Mt. Rainier taken from Paradise.
