Eric notes that this bridge is being completely supported by the truss and not by the suspension "cables". The cables appear to be rigid rods that connect at each suspender. A plaque at this bridge implies the bridge was built in 1976. Given that all of the bridge appears to be the same age, it's questionable if this bridge ever functioned as a suspension bridge. The plaque reads, "Pedestrian Suspension Bridge - This bridge was inspired by a bridge near this location at the turn of the century. It is dedicated to the citizens of the Lampasas community in commemoration of the American bicentennial. Dedicated 1976."
